Obama and School Kids

No Biggie. Seriously I've got no issues with him telling kids to stay in school, they should.

SO MANY people don't trust him. That's why there were issues. He's shady, and the people he surrounds himself with are shady. That's why there was an uproar. It's not that he can't speak to school kids, it's that many Americans think he's "using" any opportunity to promote the Obama brand. The administration handled it well by handing out the speech the day before. But what they really need to do is figure out WHY people don't trust him, or his legacy along with his presidency will be brief.

Agreed. It's not the message, it's the man behind it.
I do think they handled it well by posting it the day before.

I know. I remember at one time we were all excited when the president wanted to speak to the American people. Now we cringe.

Cj is on the whitehouse mailing list, and another reason that parents were up in arms so much is that the speech that was given today WASN'T what was passed around a week ago.
Plus, they didn't cover the speech that was given IN the classrooms that went on. Mucho agenda coverage there, and i am distrusting enough to believe that they made ninth graders ask those questions just so he could give the REAL speech that he intended to give to begin with.
We did let our kids go to school today after we thought to keep them home. We had a long talk about listening to what someone has to say without being forced into some sort of complex to be made to feel guilty because you don't believe in the same beliefs that others do.
Hannah's class wasn't going to show it, so her talk wasn't as in depth as it was with the older two.
I am glad there was so much flak over him wanting to talk because, hopefully, it was a smack in the face that he can't do EVERYTHING he pleases to do, especially where other people's children are concerned. It's time people started defending their values!
