Record Keeping

Laila is on a 30ish day cycle of vomiting. Every 30 days in the morning she throws up. It's been going on for about a year, but I've only started documenting it the last couple of months. Lucky you. She threw up this morning, and I'm keeping track. For my doctors who don't seem worried. I'm not crazy. She seriously does it once every month.

Jarom used to throw up at least every 2 weeks between 1-4 yrs old...usually in the back seat of the car. He threw up so much by the time he was 2 1/2, he could warn me! He got his tonsils out when he was 4 and doesn't throw up nearly as much. It was WELL worth getting his tonsils out!!! Some kids just have a very strong gag reflex, but enlarged tonsils can definitely exasperate the problem.

Hope everything is well/better with you. I know Josh is gone and so it's that much rougher. And you have such a great attitude and you are a good cook, so you are armed with some great assets. phew! :)

Crazy! I had a patient the other day at the hospital who has diarrhea every 4 days without any specific trigger. To try to figure it out it was recommended that the patient keep a food diary. You could try that with Laila too. Just jot down what she eats and maybe you'll find something that coincides with the incidents that doesn't seem so obvious right now. Good luck!

Way weird, Lucy. I'm sure you've already thought of this, but have you kept track of what she eats the day before/ of her puking. That could be the culprit. Bazaar though. I hope that Laila's alright.

Odd?? I hope it's nothing serious!

Thanks for all the tips. We know it's not what she eats because it is a "regular cycle". There's nothing we do that religiously that occurs exactly at the same time of the month.

We have an ENT doctor in the family, and maybe we can have him check out her tonsils. Although, I'm not sure it's a gag reflex, again because of the regularity of it.

We will keep you posted, and I apologize now for getting to hear about her once a month puking...

A really good friend of mine had this problem with her son. What they found out after constant research from the mom and alot of nagging the doctors on her part was a brain tumor. I know, that sounds super scary...but it is all right with him now. He is doing fine. Seriously, I don't mean to scare you....but if it continues you might want to demand an MRI or catscan. Just to rule out the possible worst!
