It's official, I'm pregnant.
Oh, and the good news, all is good. The placenta is 2 cm from the you know what, so I'm good. I get to exercise again, and Josh and I get to have some fun again. Oh, and this means I have to push that little person out. The problem with having kids close together is you remember how painful it was, I resigned myself to thinking that a c-section wouldn't be too bad, I wouldn't have to push!
Anyway, we're both relieved, the baby looks good, everything looks normal. It was very wierd to see my "last" ultrasound. This is a phase I'll miss. But seriously, how lucky are we to have 4 normal pregnancies? We definitely feel blessed. Thanks for the prayers and the fasting.
Now drumroll please.... We are having a....
BABY!!!
You'll know when we know. We thrive on the surprise!

Orthodontist, jobs, and heartburn
1. Colson needs orthodontia, yes, he's only 7 1/2, we've known this for 2 years, but finally have decided to move forward with the $2250 for his jaw expansion project. (Hey all those grandparents out there, I have the PERFECT Christmas gift for Colson)
2. Josh's job situation is again up in the air. The contract he's working on ends this THURSDAY, we are pretty sure he will go right back to work. But could still use a prayer or two, because didn't we just have this problem like two months ago?? There's something to be said for job stability in the Army.
3. Someone once said to me you know your pregnancy is going well, the worse you feel. I love that with my first pregnancy, I didn't even know what heartburn was until three weeks before delivery. And the fourth? 3 weeks into pregnancy I'm carrying tums in the diaper bag, car, and under my pillow.
4. This ultrasound that I've tried not to wig myself out with is happening in 2 days. I'm completely wigged out.
5. Josh reminded me yesterday of the fact that I've lost focus on the important things. Really I ask? He said yes, The Office premiere is THIS THURSDAY!! Harmony, no worries, your office supplies are in a pouch ready to be mailed, one day. :)
And finally, to my silent readers in Colorado, I just KNOW you want to know how I'm feeling about the tragic heartbreak loss to the jags on Sunday. Well, although disappointing, it was easily forgotten while watching the stealers play miserably. Although, I'm quickly turning into a "Manning" fan instead, have you seen Eli play?? Could we get Eli to play for the Colts?? Just kidding, we really could just use an offensive line.
By the way, I read the best post on fall from my friend DES. Hope you're loving the fall, too!

The unexpected role of a mother.
Yes, last night, I had THE CLOSEST scare of my life with one of my children.
I had made dinner, tortellini, and was sitting with the kiddos as I look over at Laila who is choking/crying. I'm watching her, and realize she's not making normal choking sounds. I'm still calm, pull off the tray, pull off her bib. I tilt her over to start in on a gentle Heimlich. When I finally realize this is beginning to get serious, I am frantically searching for the phone, freaking out, and yelling to Colson I need the phone to call 911, meanwhile, my Heimlich maneuver now has a bigger sense of urgency as I'm running through the house with my arm under her ribs, when all of a sudden that stupid tortellini comes flying out.
I just set her down on the floor and stood their shaking, my heart was pounding, and this was probably not more than a minute, but it felt like an eternity. Laila immediately scoots herself over to her chair, and starts eating the tortellini again. I had to pull myself out of the shock, and get over there to get everything out of her way. She's mad at me, hungry and ready to eat some more. No idea, how close she was to meeting her first EMT's.
So yes, I wipe bums, I teach about the gospel (harlots and all), I sing made up songs out of tune, etc. But yeah, I'm a life-saver, too.
By the way, I would recommend cutting tortellinis in half for little ones.

Harlot.
During scriptures tonight I was trying to "trap" Josh into an explanation of a Harlot. He told Colson it was a woman who made bad choices. Colson's Response - Looks at me and says "You're a little bit of a harlot, mom."
On another note - Josh's hotel he stayed at for a few months overseas was completely destroyed today by terrorists. 12 months ago today he was there. We are saying our prayers in gratitude tonight.

Registering to Vote
I had a friend ask me about this, and so this is what I can do to help, BECAUSE EVERY STATE is different!!
Couple things you can do:
Pick up a voter registration at your library - fill it out send it in.
I think most states require you to register 30 days before the election so time is running out!!! That would be October 4th.
You can also go here! Even if you're not a McCain fan, you can get the right forms for your state, and print them from home, and mail it in.
From this website, I believe you can also request an absentee ballot, if you have recently moved. Military personnel in most states can register at any time.
Good Luck!

Mr. Heath
It's not our anniversary, we're not even fighting, but I just am thinking about him today. 4 days have passed, this is like our Friday, and I just LovE spending time with him.
Here's why:
He's quiet, but witty - Silently in church we are getting Hallie to trace her name, when I look down and see Josh has dotted the following for Hallie to trace: Hallie is a monkey. She had no idea what she was writing, and I was laughing out loud during the rest hymn.
He's brilliant - I can ask him any question, he knows the answer. ANY question. For example My sister and I were talking about where Sarah Palin would live as VP - Do you know the name?? I called up Mr. Heath at work (on threeway)- and he rattled off the answer. It's like my personal wikipedia.
He has a very cool job - he went this week to brief someone at the Pentagon. He was in the part where the plane hit on September 11th. Don't you find it insanely cool, that he spent a year and a half in a desert and another faraway place literally fighting terrorists, to find himself full circle in the very building where it began?
He's subtly sexy - He would laugh at this one, but it's true. He has a look, a way he walks, it's subtle, but I love it.
He's easily unnoticed - He doesn't brag, he doesn't boast, it's not about him, or any acclaim. I've met my fair share of the man that is about the man. No thanks, I'll take my selfless husband over anything else. We have longevity for this quality alone.
He's a father and loves it - last night Laila was in bed before he made it home, she made a few sounds later in the evening, and of course went to get her, he had to see her!
He loves me. I don't even know why. I can seriously be the worst person to live with, I don't make life easy for him, and neither of us expected the things life has brought our way. But for some reason, he stays, he forgives, and blesses our family.
Mr. Heath, I love you. No reason. Just because.

SWEET.
My Voter Registration Card came in the mail yesterday AND I landed FOUR BOXES of my favorite Tasty Cakes Treats. See, these "boo cakes" only come out at Halloween, I discovered them last year. Coconut cakes, covered in dark chocolate. Like MOUNDS bars, so yummy. Well, I'm pregnant and have needs. So i had my local grocer, put FOUR boxes on hold... and ta da, I have them.
I'm so loving Wednesdays.

Mondays and REAL definitions!
I LOVE MONDAYS.
1. Chores come out from the deepest of laundry baskets, and darkest of closets.
2. Josh begins his morning commute at 3:50 A.M. Just tell me ONE other person that beats that.
3. Phone calls. You know the ones that you remembered all weekend, but nothing you could do about it.
4. A weeks' worth of menu planning on the horizon.
5. A copious list of appointments, dates, and obligations begin.
Can you sense the sarcasm?? I know me, sarcastic! Shocking. Where was that in my name definition? Seriously, bogus.
My real definition:
Ornery, impatient, demanding, intense, passionate, outgoing, funny, wierdly interested in all things finance, spiritual... (it's true, I have a group of girls I'm friends with, we nicknamed each other like this: there's a fun one, a cool one, and seriously they call me the spiritual one), wannabe swimmer, intolerant, unbelievably strong sense of justice, hard worker, a cryer, a friend, and a mother. I try hard to do what is right, to control my tongue, and to be creative. Unsuccessful at all three in most occasions. I'm patriotic, and a believer. I tend to REWATCH things like this, and this, and cry every time. I desire all to be their best, which means I'm awfully critical. I'm rough around the edges, but deep down I love life, and family, and friends. I was a victim of sexual assault as a young girl, and now I'm a survivor. Although, this has been a challenge beyond me to overcome, I've turned to the Savior to lift my burdens.
What's in a name? This is Lucy. A life full of suffering, and yet, blessed. A desire to find Joy, and to Share it. Truly, I hope to be a LIGHT to others, as this is what Lucy really means - "Light".
QOTD: Colson got in trouble for his behavior in primary. His response "Mom, we cover the same topic every week, Jesus. It gets boring sometimes." Do you think he's been reading my blogs and emails, bragging about him and his spiritual intuitiveness?? :)

What's in a name??
What Lucy Means |
You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily. Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is. You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way. And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life. You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it. You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily. You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind. A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable. You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care. |
Let me ask you, how accurate was this??? NOT AT ALL!!! Relaxed, go with the flow..., lucky??? Definitely not me. See what your name means, and good luck!

Blog Briefing.
1. Josh gives his first briefing to some air force higher up this week. Loves his job, and was able to get them to go with 4, Ten hour days, to help out with the commute. I call him at work now, and he goes by Mr. Heath (at least that's how they address him in the office). So funny.
2. Me, still pregnant, not puking, loving talking politics, enrolled in an H & R Block tax class with quizzes, homework, and a final. Don't ask, I'm just a nerd that likes to learn. Scheduled the crucial ultrasound for Sept. 26th, pray! And for enquiring minds, I'm still LOVING the COLTS, even after the horrendous display on Sunday. I wish I could be more active in this quest, but instead I'm learning about qualifying children, marital status, and the exemptions for a blind person who turns 65 on January 1st. Although, seeing Tom Brady out for the season gives me some, shall I say Joy?? Nah, I still would rather play the best, and lose to the best, than to beat the mediocre. Colts will win the Super Bowl, But it will be a harder fought season. Oh, and I'm single handily spending all of our extra money on things like FOOD HERE, PHOTOGRAPHER HERE, CLOTHES HERE, not to mention the FINES HERE.
3. Colson, 2nd grader, book reading, scripture studying, brainiac.
4. Hallie, still home. When does Kindergarten start?? Just kidding, love having that goofy girl around.
5. Laila, is Laila, so fun, loving and sweet. Not walking, not talking, I'm not caring, she will in her own time.
Finally, do you remember THIS POST? Well, Josh has declared he wants to join us for the adventure this year. Lucky us!
My friend DES and I share a LOVE for fall. Truly my Favorite time of year, the leaves, smells, FOOTBALL, preparations for the holidays, etc. I hope you all take the chance to find some joy in your September. Our family is busy, but blessed. We love our friends, our faith, our home, our job, each other. Life is good. Wishing you hugs, and warmth for the coming fall. Do me a favor, grab some apple cider, and cuddle with your main squeeze.
Mr. Heath, hope you're reading this we have a date this weekend, with a warm mug, I can't wait. By the way, could you grab some apple cider from the store on your way home?
